Abandoned Mill Site

The pit from a marble rubbing bed. The beds were circular, rotating above allowing for larger slabs of marble to be easily sanded while the water and marble slurry collected in the pit and pumped out of the way. There are several pits on the site and this one is in Shop #3, having been used for the Lincoln Memorial pieces.
